The College of Engineering is one of the largest and oldest colleges of Michigan State University, one of the top research universities in the world. What began as a single field of study—Mechanic Arts—in 1885, has grown to a college of nine academic units, with more than 230 tenure-stream faculty members serving nearly 6,000 undergraduate and 800 graduate students through ten undergraduate and ten MS and PhD degree programs.
MSU has been advancing the common good with uncommon will for more than 160 years. As a founding college of the university, the College of Engineering is recognized as a leader in engineering education, research and the application of knowledge to benefit society globally.
